Bouncin' Around the SoCo Breweries
Best Breweries for Father’s Day Fun!
Ready to celebrate your dad this Father’s Day? What better way to show him you care than with an ice cold beer? In honor of the great dads out there, we rounded up our top five favorite South Coast breweries to take your dad to this Sunday (or any day this summer)!
In 2012 this small batch brewery began in the quaint farming town of Berkley, Massachusetts. Soon after, they outgrew their nano brewery space and landed themselves in a large warehouse on the banks of the Taunton River. Berkley Beer Co. is passionate about the environment and tries to keep their environmental impact on this planet as low as possible. This includes mixing in their fermented vegetables and brewed beer into their creative menu! Don’t forget to join in for some acoustic fun every Sunday from 1:30-4:30PM!
A few blocks from the water located in New Bedford’s Historic District is Moby Dick Brewing Co. Enjoy the cool breeze off the harbor and come in for a bite. Take in all that Moby Dick’s has to offer with live bands every Friday and Saturday throughout the summer. Visit their website to find their schedule!
Looking to get your groove on at this next venue? Recently rebranded, The Vault Music Hall and Pub in New Bedford has become notorious for their live music performances and spacious dance floor! Come check out this 350 person venue, complete pub restaurant with a variety of beers on tap for you to enjoy. Check their website for this summer’s full calendar of live bands, you don’t want to miss!
Back in 2014, the owners of Crue Brew were inspired after taking a brewery tour themselves. They said that if twelve people could be successful doing it, so could they! Out of some 8,000 breweries in the United States, only 60, or less than 1%, are black-owned businesses (Daily Hampshire Gazette). In response to this, Crue Brew and several other black-owned breweries in Massachusetts came together on a project to motivate more people of color to join the industry. They launched “As One,” a New England IPA beer. A portion of the proceeds from this line go toward the creation of a scholarship at Holyoke Community College for students of color that enroll in its beer, winemaking, and cider making program. What an amazing initiative and support in the community! Read more about their incredible journey or stop by this summer in Raynham to enjoy their local brews.
Last but not least… and coming soon! Add this to your list of places to go after their opening 6/31. You don’t want to miss this massive outdoor venue space with plenty of room to enjoy its BBQ restaurant, outdoor kid zone, fire pits, moorings to arrive by boat, and an outdoor stage for their outdoor concert series. Sign up for their email list on their website to keep up with all their latest updates!
We hope you get a chance to bounce around these breweries with your dad this weekend. Don’t forget to snap some pictures and tag us at #LoveSoCoLiving. Cheers!
