National Ice Cream Day: South Coast Scoops
Where to celebrate National Ice Cream Day, South Coast Style
Cookies and cream or chocolate chip cookie dough? Waffle cone or cup? No matter your preference, the South Coast creameries are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings. In honor of this month’s National Ice Cream Day, we’re here to tell you our five favorite South Coast spots to celebrate creamy greatness with friends and family this July 18th!
Acushnet Creamery –
Voted the best homemade ice cream on the South Coast, Acushnet Creamery home-makes over 50 flavors of ice cream, frozen yogurts, and sherbets. Among their wildly popular special sundaes is The Peanut Butter Cup, a customer favorite. And if you’re in the mood for a to-go treat, their Ice Cream Flights come in a six-scoop package with flavors of your choice! There’s no place better to make some sweet scoopin’ memories.
Somerset Creamery –
Serving up fresh cream since 1937, family-owned Somerset Creamery serves rich, homemade scoops from natural ingredients at each of their three locations. The smell of their freshly baked waffle cones will undoubtedly draw you inside the shops, where you will find a selection of creative flavors. This July, check out their new vegan flavors, Black Raspberry Oreo and Mocha Chip, which are already best-sellers!
Ice Cream Barn –
Part of what makes the Ice Cream Barn so special is that their ice cream is churned from dairy produced on co-owner Kenny Baker’s family farm, the Baker Farm itself. Last year, the shop admirably switched to completely compostable packaging. So, stop by when in Swansea and indulge in their sustainably delicious scoops, ranging in flavors from Apple Crisp to Coffee Oreo to S’mores and more!
Eskimo King –
For another Swansea favorite, head to the Eskimo King to truly find out “where ice cream rules”! There are not many places that offer over 350 soft serve flavors along with various hard ice creams, sundaes, AND cakes. Try not to get lost in their delicious menu and it’s 27 different chocolate flavors alone! All you have to do is walk up to their summer shop window, and you will truly have it all.
Annie’s Ice Cream Shack –
Perfect for a hot summer’s day in Freetown, stop by Annie’s Ice Cream Shack for some walk-up cream at a great price in a peaceful environment. With 41 fantastic flavors, you can choose from cones to cups and a variety of toppings. With a few dairy-free and sugar-free options and a weekly rotation of special flavors, they have options for all needs and wants!
Can’t celebrate on July18th? The good thing is, you can celebrate National Ice Cream Day with a scoop (or two) on any day of the week. Choose your favorite flavors and enjoy a cold treat in a South Coast creamery you’ll instantly love.
